Ferndale & Parat Wrecks (Krakhellesundet)

Two WWII wrecks lying together in Krakhellesundet north of Bergen, dived from the Gulen area. The Ferndale, a 116 m freighter that ran aground on Sail Rock in December 1944 and was then sunk in an Allied air attack, lies on a slope with its bow rubble from about 10 m and the intact midship and stern down to around 34-40 m. The salvage vessel Parat sits beside Ferndale's stern on the seabed at roughly 45-60 m, making the pair a graded site from recreational depths into technical range. The wrecks are encrusted with marine growth and rich in fish.

MV Hadsel Wreck (Lofoten)

A coastal passenger liner that foundered in a strong current near Reine in the Lofoten Islands in January 1958 while carrying mail and passengers to Bodo, now one of the area's deeper recreational wrecks at around 40 m. The wreck sits in dramatic Lofoten scenery and is typically dived from RIBs, with drift conditions depending on tide. Cold, clear northern water hosts cod, pollack, anemones and other Atlantic life on the structure. It suits experienced cold-water and deep-trained divers.

Gulen / Byrknesoy (Sognefjord)

A cold-water wreck and wall diving hub on the islands around Byrknes in Gulen, on the western fringe of Sognefjord about two hours north of Bergen and home to the well-known Gulen Dive Resort. The area concentrates dozens of wrecks and dramatic fjord walls draped in anemones, soft corals and sponges, popular with technical and underwater-photography divers. Sites range from shallow scenic walls to deep wrecks, and conditions are sheltered inside the fjord system though water is cold year-round. It is one of Norway's premier wreck destinations, served by a resort with on-site fills and gas.

Skjervoy Orca & Humpback Safari

A seasonal Arctic snorkelling experience out of Skjervoy (about 70 N) where orcas and humpback whales gather to feed on overwintering Norwegian spring-spawning herring in the Kvaenangen and Lyngen fjord systems. Boats locate carousel-feeding orca pods and humpbacks, and snorkellers slip into the cold dark water to watch from the surface; this is freediving/snorkel only, not scuba. The season runs roughly November to January in very low Arctic light and frigid water, so drysuits and careful operator-led safety are essential. Note this is a surface marine-encounter site rather than a conventional scuba dive site.
