SS Frankenwald Wreck (Gulen)
Vestland · 7–44 m
A 122 m German freighter, voted best wreck in Norway by readers of the magazine Dykking, lying in the Gulen area of outer Sognefjord and dived from Gulen Dive Resort. The deck slopes from about 24 m down to 34 m toward the bow, while the stern rests on the sandy bottom at around 44 m, with superstructure rising as shallow as 7-20 m entirely encased in anemones and teeming with fish. It is a large, photogenic wreck suited to experienced cold-water and technical divers. The ship sank on 6 January 1940.
