How does PickADive source its dive-site data?
PickADive’s dive-site data comes from OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, NOAA, GBIF and Open-Meteo, each kept with its license and provenance. The directory lists 4,824 public dive sites worldwide, every one mapped, and — where a source recorded it — depth range, difficulty and required certification, entry and exit points, parking notes and hazards. Site pages add a 7-day conditions outlook graded from the current marine or wind forecast for that site, seasonal history computed from three years of model data, tide and slack timing where a NOAA station is linked, and dated diver reports once divers file them. Marine-life seasons draw on recorded GBIF sightings and are shown as history, not a promise. Every forecast names its model, and its distance from the site wherever a marine model point is used; every sighting claim carries a record count; every diver report carries its date — and when PickADive does not know something, the page says so. Outlooks are forecast-only planning context: always assess conditions on site and dive within your training.
Diver reports and corrections will be counted here as they arrive — never seeded, never faked.
