Eber Ward Wreck (Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Preserve)

The Eber Ward was a 213-ft wooden steamer built in 1888 that was holed by ice and sank in April 1909 about five miles west of where the Mackinac Bridge now stands. She sits upright and intact in roughly 145 ft of Lake Michigan with her cabin and wheel in place, the fatal ice gash visible in the bow, and her yawl boat flattened off the stern. Depth puts this dive at the edge of recreational limits, and it is one of the signature advanced/technical dives of the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Preserve, with two seasonal moorings.

Lake Elmer Thomas (LETRA)

A small, scenic lake set among the granite boulders of the Wichita Mountains on the Fort Sill boundary near Lawton, with a public recreation area (LETRA) operated by Army MWR. It is a long-standing local dive spot with roughly 15 ft average visibility, abundant sunfish and bass around the rock piles, and easy beach entries. The surrounding terrain sits around 1,300 ft elevation.

U-352 (Wrack)

U-352, a Type VIIC U-boat sunk by US Coast Guard cutter Icarus on 9 May 1942, is the signature wreck of North Carolina's Graveyard of the Atlantic. The intact hull lists about 45 degrees to starboard in 110-115 ft of water 26 miles south of Morehead City, with the conning tower rising to about 90 ft. Gulf Stream water often delivers tropical visibility, and the site is dived several times a week in season. It is a war grave for 15 German sailors and must not be penetrated or disturbed.

Homestead Crater

A 55-foot-tall beehive-shaped limestone dome in Midway enclosing a geothermal spring naturally heated to 90-96 F year-round, making it the only warm scuba destination in the continental US interior. Divers enter through a tunnel cut into the rock and descend from a deck to platforms in the hourglass-shaped shaft, with mounted lights at roughly 20 and 40 feet. The hole is about 65 feet deep but divers are asked to stay above 45 feet to avoid stirring the silt bottom. It is a privately operated, reservation-only facility at the Homestead resort.
