U-576, a Type VIIC U-boat, was lost with all 45 hands on 15 July 1942 in a battle with convoy KS-520, minutes after sinking the freighter Bluefields, which lies only ~220 m away. The pair was located by NOAA in 2014 about 30 miles off Cape Hatteras at a depth of 721 ft (220 m) and surveyed by crewed submersible in 2016. The site is a protected German war grave at submersible-only depth and is not a scuba diving site.

A Metro Parks Tacoma fishing pier and marine park on Ruston Way in Commencement Bay with a dedicated diver stairway. A short ~75 ft swim from the stairs reaches a large man-made reef built partly from blocks of the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge, lying perpendicular to shore in roughly 40-70 ft, with the bottom continuing past 120 ft for deeper profiles. Mild conditions, easy entry and on-site amenities make it one of Tacoma's most popular training and night-dive sites.

A diver-created wreck park on the northeast side of Sentinel Island in Boulder Basin, where the local technical diving community has gathered roughly a dozen sunken boats found around Lake Mead. Several wrecks are linked by permanent high-visibility cave line starting near 140 ft and descending past 300 ft, including the Southern Cross (penetrable) and smaller speed and ski boats. The shallower wall above the wrecks makes a good recreational dive, while the wreck line itself is technical territory.

USS Algol is a 459 ft Andromeda-class attack cargo ship sunk as a New Jersey artificial reef. NJScuba describes an intact upright wreck with the superstructure beginning around 70 ft, main deck around 110 ft, and sand near 145 ft / 44 m or deeper. It is a major deep wreck/technical site, not a beginner artificial reef.

Sebastian Inlet State Park straddles a man-made cut between the Atlantic and the Indian River Lagoon, with miles of shallow nearshore rock reefs starting just south of the inlet. Snorkeling and scuba are allowed everywhere except under the bridge and in the boat channel, and spearfishing is prohibited within the park. The shallow reefs hold tropicals, lobster and rays, but the inlet's powerful tidal flow makes timing around slack/high tide essential.

A 1,200-acre cooling reservoir for Dominion's Mount Storm power station on the Stony River, famous among Mid-Atlantic divers because the discharged cooling water keeps it warm year-round - 50s-60s F in winter and up to the 90s F in summer. Training platforms sit at about 25, 50 and 90-100 ft, with a submerged ghost forest, shed and fence line, and a maximum depth around 130 ft. At roughly 3,200 ft elevation it is an altitude dive, and current rules require divers to access the dive area by boat.

Santa Rosa's second dive site, a small spring-fed lake about a 10-minute drive from the Blue Hole, used for training and as an overflow when the Blue Hole is crowded. A cleaned twin-engine airplane and a car were sunk as attractions, lying in the 50-60 ft maximum depths, and visibility is more limited than the Blue Hole. Diving is managed by the city and requires the same city-issued dive permit.
