Meeks Bay

Meeks Bay, on Lake Tahoe's west shore about 5 miles north of Emerald Bay, is one of the lake's most popular and family-friendly shore dives, with easy beach entry from the resort or campground and visibility that can exceed 60 ft. The mostly shallow bay slopes gradually before dropping at about 45 degrees into deep water, with rocky ledges and outcroppings on the south side that shelter fish and abundant crawfish, plus a sunken motorboat at around 90 ft. At ~6,225 ft elevation it is an altitude dive in cold water year-round.

Stolt Dagali Verified

Stolt Dagali is the stern section of a Norwegian tanker cut in two by SS Shalom in 1964. NJScuba describes the wreck starting around 60 ft with the main wreck in about 130 ft / 40 m, making it one of the deeper New Jersey wreck dives. The site is large, deteriorated, and best treated as a technical/deep wreck rather than a casual recreational dive.

New Mexico's largest lake, a 15,590-acre reservoir on the San Juan River in the state's northwest corner, with depths to 100 feet in the dived areas near the dam. Most diving is by boat from the state park marinas; walk-in entry is possible near the dam/spillway when the lake level is high, though it requires hauling gear down a steep hill. Visibility is modest (10-15 ft) and water ranges from the 40s F in winter to about 75 F in summer.

Tolten is the wreck of a Chilean freighter, formerly Lotta, torpedoed by U-404 in March 1942. NJScuba describes the wreck in about 95 ft / 29 m, with stronger structure at the bow and stern and a long contiguous layout. It is an offshore advanced wreck dive with cold water and navigation demands.
