A Maryland artificial reef site east of Ocean City whose bottom slopes gently from about 70 ft on the west side to 50 ft on the east. In 2008-2009 stainless steel subway cars were deployed here alongside barges and concrete rubble, creating moderate-relief habitat for sea bass, tautog and flounder. It is a regular stop for Ocean City fishing, diving and spearfishing trips.

Cathedral Rocks is an advanced shore dive off the granite cliffs of Pigeon Cove, Rockport, reached by climbing down jagged rocks to a slab entry. Straight out the bottom drops to about 80 ft, with boulder ledges left and right famous for large lobsters, anemone-covered rock and gamefish. Conditions must be near perfect: ocean swell makes the climb-out dangerous, so it is dived far less often than neighboring beaches.

The Proteus was a 390-ft luxury passenger liner that ran between New York and New Orleans, lost on 19 August 1918 in a collision with the SS Cushing about 20-25 miles south of Hatteras Inlet. She lies in 120-130 ft of water as a broad wreck site with engine, boilers and stern machinery providing relief. Bathed in Gulf Stream water, the site is a reliable aggregation point for sand tiger sharks plus big pelagics like amberjack, African pompano and barracuda.

The 95-ft schooner Gallinipper (built 1833) capsized in a squall on July 7, 1851, and is the oldest shipwreck yet found in Wisconsin waters. It sits upright and remarkably intact in 215 ft of water (deck at ~200 ft) roughly 8-10 nautical miles off the coast between Manitowoc and Sheboygan, with carved bow, bowsprit and both wood-stock anchors in place. A cold, dark trimix dive for experienced technical divers only; listed on the National Register in 2010.
