Wreck of the Islander
New York · 9.1–18.3 m
A maintained shore-accessible dive site in the St. Lawrence River at the foot of Market Street in downtown Alexandria Bay (US side of the Thousand Islands). The Islander was a 125-foot sidewheel steamer built in Rochester in 1871 and lost to fire on 16 September 1909. The wreck lies just offshore in 30-45 feet of water, with some timbers down to about 60 feet, and is a favorite easy/training dive with signage and water access.
