The 105 Tug is a sunken tugboat off the Alabama/Pensacola coast, roughly 14 miles offshore in about 100 feet of water, and is a popular charter wreck dive noted for abundant fish life. It is grouped with the Navy Tug and 151 Tug in dive-magazine coverage of the region's sunken tugs. The compact wreck offers a wheelhouse to explore and surrounding sand where rays and bottom-dwellers are found.

The Big Island's most famous shore dive, named for the natural two-step lava ledge entry beside the Honaunau boat ramp, next to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge) National Historical Park. A shallow coral shelf drops quickly down a steep slope to sand at about 100 ft, with superb hard coral and frequent spinner dolphins in the bay. Beginner-friendly in the shallows but easy to get deep.

Small, protected sandy cove off Cliff Drive in Laguna Beach with a series of mini-reefs beginning almost immediately offshore in 10-35 ft of water. It is one of Orange County's most heavily used open-water training beaches and can be combined with adjacent Fisherman's Cove as a loop dive. The cove sits inside the no-take Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve.

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is a private 250-acre spring-fed quarry lake, campground and festival venue in Garrettsville, Portage County, that also operates as a scuba site. Local dive schools maintain training courses and marked bottom attractions in water averaging about 30 feet deep, and the park hosts diver events such as Halloween and treasure dives. Water is officially tested twice a season and rates among the cleanest in Ohio.

One of the best-known dive sites in Channel Islands National Park, on the sheltered north side of East Anacapa Island about 1-1.5 hours by boat from Ventura. Reef structures top out around 20 ft and drop to 70+ ft sand channels, draped in giant kelp with arches and cavern-like formations, abundant gorgonians and a nearby sea lion rookery. The site lies inside a long-established no-take marine reserve, so fish life is dense and giant sea bass are seen with some regularity.
