Artificial reef built from 125' Wood Schooner - "the American" (with 40 cu.yds. of concrete ballast) NJDEP deployment record: Ship, material: 90' Tugboat - "Tobacco Pointe", deployed 2016.

Typical mid-Atlantic offshore wreck hazards — variable visibility and cold water much of the year, and possible current. Entanglement risk from monofilament and rigging, as this is a heavily fished blackfish spot on an active artificial reef. The tug has substantial interior structure — any penetration is an overhead-environment risk requiring wreck training. Watch for boat traffic from fishing vessels working the reef.
