Eagle's Nest is a remote sinkhole in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area near Weeki Wachee, often called the 'Mount Everest of cave diving.' An unassuming pond drops through a narrow chute into an enormous ballroom and deep upstream/downstream tunnels mapped to 310 ft. It is acclaimed as one of the deadliest cave-diving sites in the world, with more than ten fatalities since 1981, and is restricted to fully cave-certified divers who register with FWC for each dive.

Hazards — extreme depth (narcosis/decompression obligation, trimix territory), silt-outs, complex navigation, line traps, no direct ascent to surface, remote location with no cell service and long EMS response. More than 10 divers have died here, including non-cave-trained divers. Full cave certification and FWC registration required for every diver on every dive.
