Site details

A limestone wedge of an island about 4 km off the Muscat coast, roughly 25 minutes by boat from the marina, and the closest serious dive to the city. Reef and wall terrain drops to around 30-40 m, with healthy hard and soft coral gardens and a cave swim-through, plus a small tug-boat wreck at about 30 m off the north side. It is nicknamed Shark Island for the blacktip and other reef sharks that rest on adjacent sandbanks, and whale sharks are occasionally seen resting on the seabed here. Visibility runs 10-30 m and several distinct sites ring the island.
