EntryDive from a moored boat: tie off at the NPS shipwreck mooring buoy (white with blue stripe) when present and descend the mooring line to the wreck. Dive flag required whenever divers are in the water; gear must be cleaned and dried 7 days prior to prevent invasive species transfer.
ExitAscend the mooring line to the boat; keep at least one person aboard the vessel at all times and surface within 100 ft of the dive flag.
ParkingNo road access — Isle Royale is reached only by ferry, seaplane, or private/charter boat from Houghton or Copper Harbor, MI, or Grand Portage, MN. NPS entrance fee applies. Each diver must register for a free dive permit at the Rock Harbor, Windigo, or Houghton visitor center before diving.
