Artificial reef built from M-578 Light Recovery Vehicle NJDEP deployment record: Military vehicle, material: M-578 Light Recovery Vehicle , deployed 1997.

Heavily fished artificial reef — expect fishing boat traffic overhead and monofilament line and lost rigs snagged on the vehicles (entanglement risk — carry a cutting tool). The armor is densely mussel-encrusted with sharp edges, and vehicle interiors are confined spaces that should not be penetrated. Typical mid-Atlantic conditions: cool water and changeable visibility.
