EntryCross the beach (small rocks and pebbles giving way to sand) and walk straight in; entry is usually simple but mind footing in any waves. Surface-swim about 150 yards out over a gently sloping sand/gravel bottom to a band of boulders running parallel to the beach.
ExitSwim back toward the beach and exit on the sand/pebble shoreline where you entered; in waves, time the exit and crawl clear of the pebble zone before standing.
ParkingFree street parking along the western end of Penzance Road right along the beach — one of the few free, year-round legal spots on Cape Ann. The far end of Penzance Road is Rockport resident-only (a metal sign about halfway down the beach marks where the resident zone begins). Fills up on summer weekends.
