Site hazards: Site sits immediately off the Duluth Ship Canal amid active harbor traffic - the wreck itself has been repeatedly damaged by ships' dragging anchors; heavy silt inside the hull demands careful anti-silting technique; visibility is unpredictable, from near-zero up to about 15 m in exceptional years and averaging roughly 5 m; broken and overhanging hull sections mean divers can unknowingly end up inside the wreck in low visibility; cold Lake Superior water requires appropriate exposure protection. The wreck is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
