Ebo's Reef on Klein Bonaire is known for an unusual double-terrace profile, with a shallow coral shelf stepping down to a deeper terrace from roughly 3m to 25m. Healthy hard and soft corals, reef fish and frequent turtle sightings make it an easy, scenic boat dive. Its gentle conditions suit beginners and snorkellers alike.

Forest, on the southwest tip of Klein Bonaire, is named for its dense 'forest' of black coral on a wall that descends to around 40m+. The exposed point can draw current and with it eagle rays, turtles and larger reef fish. It is a richer, slightly more advanced Klein Bonaire boat dive prized for its black coral and pelagic chances.

Hilma Hooker

The Hilma Hooker is a 72m freighter, seized for smuggling and sunk in 1984, that now lies on its starboard side between two reefs in 18-34m just off the shore south of Kralendijk. The shallowest part of the hull is around 18m with the bottom resting on sand at 30-34m, making it an iconic but depth-limited dive marked by mooring buoys. It is Bonaire's signature wreck, easily reached as a shore dive and rich with tarpon, barracuda and reef fish around the structure.

Invisibles on Bonaire's south coast is a classic double-reef site, with a nearer reef and a second reef beyond a sand channel from about 6m to 30m. The shallow sand flats are one of the best places on the island to see garden eels, while the reefs host turtles, snapper schools and the occasional eagle ray. The double-reef layout rewards good navigation.

Karpata, on Bonaire's northwest coast about 20 minutes from Kralendijk, is one of the island's most beautiful reefs, with a wall and slope from about 5m to 40m+ smothered in healthy hard and soft coral. Old anchors and a vibrant drop-off make it a favourite for divers of all levels, though the rocky shore entry takes some care. It is the standard exit point for the La Dania's Leap drift dive.

La Dania's Leap

La Dania's Leap is Bonaire's signature true drift dive: a giant stride off a limestone cliff commits divers to drifting along a vibrant wall to exit at Karpata about 45 minutes away. The wall is alive with sponges and coral from roughly 10m to 30m+, with turtles, rays and reef sharks possible along the way. Because you cannot return to the entry, it requires planning, navigation and a shore-support exit at Karpata.

Mi Dushi ('my sweetheart' in Papiamentu) on Klein Bonaire is a beautiful wall dive that begins with a flat coral shallows before dropping to about 38m. The healthy, sponge-rich drop-off attracts turtles, morays and reef fish, while the shallow start makes it equally good for snorkelling. It is one of Klein Bonaire's most enjoyable boat dives.

Oil Slick Leap is a north-coast shore dive entered by a giant stride off a low limestone cliff, with a metal ladder for the exit. Below, the reef slopes then drops as a near-vertical wall draped in sponges and corals from about 5m to 40m+. Turtles, morays and abundant reef fish make it a rewarding, slightly adventurous entry favoured by experienced shore divers.
