Sha'ab Samadai, the Marsa Alam 'Dolphin House', is a large horseshoe-shaped offshore reef roughly 7-18 km from the coast, famous for the resident pod of spinner dolphins that rest in its sheltered inner lagoon. A protected national park since 2004, it is zoned so the inner lagoon (Zone A) is off-limits while diving and snorkelling take place around the reef pinnacles and outer slope.
