Barracuda Point (Kakaban)

A steep wall on the outer ring of Kakaban island where current draws in big pelagic action. Schooling barracuda and jackfish form tornados, joined by whitetip and leopard sharks, occasional hammerheads, and large tuna. One of the Derawan archipelago's premier big-fish wall dives, best run on favourable current.

One of Pulau Weh's most popular sites, a central rock that drops from the surface to around 22 m before sloping to about 40 m, exploring a colourful coral reef. It is the most reliable Weh site for big fish, with giant trevally, schooling barracuda and horse-eye jacks, plus occasional blacktip reef sharks. Good macro life including leaf scorpionfish and mantis shrimp rounds out the dive.

A dramatic submerged pinnacle north of the Banda group, named for a rock formation above water that resembles a ship. Underwater, a cluster of pinnacles forms a coral-covered valley dropping into a steep wall that falls to roughly 50 metres. Current funnels pelagic action here, with schooling barracuda and trevally over the spires.

A signature drift dive at the channel mouth on the north of Maratua island, famous for an enormous schooling barracuda tornado. Current sweeps divers along a colourful coral edge where, around 27 m at the channel entrance, grey reef sharks, blacktips, tuna and big jacks gather. One of the Derawan archipelago's standout big-fish dives.
