Hurricane Andrew (1992) twisted the stern to port and collapsed the midships sectiontreat those areas as unstable and avoid getting under loose or hanging plating. Partially collapsed sections create entanglement and entrapment risk for divers who penetrate without training. As a National Park wreck, removing anything from the site is prohibited and rangers do enforce mooring/anchoring rules.
