Two early-1900s Ponderosa pine work barges, one over 100 feet long, rest in 10-40 ft off the southeastern shore of Emerald Bay as part of California's first underwater maritime heritage trail, opened in 2018. A mooring buoy marks the site and underwater interpretive panels explain the history; the wrecks are shallow enough for snorkelers as well as divers.
