Site details

The Louilla is a Panamanian cargo ship of around 3,461 tonnes that ran aground on the northern side of Gordon Reef in the Strait of Tiran in the early 1980s, with its bow section still protruding above the surface. Diving the area centres on Gordon Reef's southern plateau (about 10-25 m) and a coral valley dropping to 30-40 m. Strong currents are common in the strait, and the site is part of the standard Tiran day-boat circuit from Sharm el-Sheikh.
