Map of Big Brother South Plateau

Big Brother South Plateau

· 25–60 m

The South Plateau projects from the southern tip of Big Brother, beginning near 25-30m and extending roughly 500m south while dropping past 60m at its point. A cleaning station on the plateau draws sharks, and the surrounding walls fall sheer below 80m. Currents here are typically strong, making it a classic drift along the reef's flank.

Map of Black Pearl - Red Sea

Black Pearl - Red Sea

South Sinai · 2–25 m

Black Pearl is a beach-club and restaurant venue on the Hadaba (south Sharm) coast that fronts a fringing house reef used for snorkeling and shore diving. The reef table gives way to a wall and slope typical of the Hadaba coastline, with colourful reef fish and soft and hard corals. It functions more as a shore-access reef and beach facility than a dedicated boat dive site.

Map of Blue Hole

Blue Hole

South Sinai · 7–110 m

The Blue Hole is a roughly 100 m-deep submarine sinkhole in the fringing reef just north of Dahab. Recreational divers explore the shallow rim and the saddle linking it to the open sea, while the famous Arch tunnel at around 52 m is reserved for technical divers. It is notorious worldwide for fatalities among divers attempting the Arch beyond their limits.

Map of Daedalus Anemone City

Daedalus Anemone City

· 5–30 m

On the western side of Daedalus Reef lies an expansive anemone field nicknamed Anemone City, carpeted with magnificent anemones and their resident clownfish. The wall here is rich in hard and soft corals and shelters reef fish in the shallows, while sharks may pass in the blue. It offers a gentler counterpoint to Daedalus's deeper shark plateaus.

Map of Daedalus Lighthouse

Daedalus Lighthouse

· 5–30 m

The northern tip of Daedalus Reef is crowned by an operational lighthouse first built in 1863 and rebuilt in 1931, and the surrounding shallows and walls form a dive in their own right. Reef walls cloaked in hard and soft coral descend from the reef crest near the lighthouse, with pelagics and reef fish in attendance. It is typically the orientation point and entry area for the northern reef dives.

Map of Daedalus North Plateau (Shark Plateau)

Daedalus North Plateau (Shark Plateau)

· 20–40 m

Two plateaus at the northern end of Daedalus, around -20m and -40m, are the reef's prime shark-observation grounds. This is the area offering the best chances of encountering schooling scalloped hammerheads and thresher (fox) sharks, especially early in the day. Strong currents are common, so it is dived as a drift with attention to depth.
