Map of Million Hope

Million Hope

South Sinai · 5–30 m

The largest wreck in the Red Sea, a roughly 175m cargo vessel that ran aground on the reef north of Sharm el-Sheikh in June 1996 while carrying phosphates and potash from Jordan; all 25 crew were rescued. It sits upright in about 24m with its starboard side against the reef and five huge cargo holds, dived as a multilevel route from the coral-encrusted stern crane forward to the bow and back along the deck. Because it lies at the exposed mouth of the strait it is weather dependent, with strong currents and swell.

Near Garden

South Sinai · 5–30 m

Near Garden is the southernmost of the Gardens, just north of Naama Bay. The reef wall descends to around 8-10 m then slopes gently to a drop-off at 18-20 m, with coral pinnacles dotted along the dive. The pinnacles host nudibranchs, shrimps, blennies, Christmas tree worms and banded pipefish, making it a good macro and training site.

Numidia

Red Sea Governorate · 8–80 m

The Numidia was a roughly 130 m British cargo steamer that struck the northern point of Big Brother Island in 1901 while bound for India. The wreck cascades down a steep drop-off from about 8 m at the bow to beyond 80 m, smothered in hard and soft corals. It is one of the two iconic Big Brother wrecks and a magnet for schooling fish and passing pelagics on the current-swept reef.

Pinky Wall

South Sinai · 5–40 m

Pinky's Wall is a dramatic, undulating wall on the Hadaba coast dropping to roughly 180 m, packed with chimneys and overhangs. The wall is a strong vantage point for spotting pelagics cruising in the blue, and divers typically run a multi-level profile along the soft-coral-covered face.

Police Station (Small Giftun)

Red Sea Governorate · 5–30 m

A popular drift dive on the south side of Small Giftun Island, marked by the moorings beside the Giftun police-station tower atop a 15-25 m plateau. Divers typically drop in near the station and ride the current along the deep wall and over the sloping reef. Soft corals, gorgonians and good fish action make it a classic Giftun National Park outing.

Ras Abu Soma (Soma Bay house reef)

Red Sea Governorate · 5–25 m

Ras Abu Soma is the headland house reef of Soma Bay, reached by a long jetty from the Breakers/Orca dive base or by short boat hop from Safaga. The site combines a sheltered training lagoon with a reef front and wall dropping to around 25 m, so it suits both snorkelers and experienced divers. Because it lies in the lee of the headland it remains diveable when offshore sites are blown out.
