Nubble Lighthouse (Sohier Park)

Maine's signature shore dive at Sohier Park in York, beneath the famous Cape Neddick 'Nubble' Lighthouse. Divers enter from sloping granite ledges into a kelp-covered shallow ledge that drops along a steep wall to about 40-50 feet, with boulders, nooks and dense invertebrate life throughout. The entry/exit over the ledge is the crux and is far easier near high tide; the site draws check-out classes from all over New England.

Jackson Blue Spring

Jackson Blue Spring is a first-magnitude spring at the head of Merritt's Mill Pond near Marianna and one of the most popular full-cave dives in the United States. The entrance at the main vent leads into miles of mostly large, clear, white-limestone passage with notable flow, commonly dived with stages and DPVs. Access is by permit through Cave Adventurers with a gate code for year-round entry; the basin doubles as a county swim park in summer.

Flathead Lake - Goose Island

Montana · 6–30.5 m

The largest natural freshwater lake in the western U.S., Flathead Lake offers clear water with visibility often exceeding 100 feet and depths over 300 feet, drawing divers to its rock formations and underwater cliffs. Goose Island, a glacial rock outcropping ringed by boulders and fish, is a highlight, and several boats have been deliberately sunk to create fish habitat and dive attractions. Somers Bay on the north end holds the upside-down hull of the Kee-O-Mee, a 54-foot pleasure boat that sank in 1937, along with the remains of the old Somers Mill.

U-85 Wreck Verified

U-85 is a WWII German U-boat wreck off Cape Hatteras in about 90 ft / 27 m of water. It is a boat dive for experienced wreck divers, with low-visibility/current risk and historical-war-loss sensitivity. Keep the dive external unless trained/equipped for wreck penetration and leave artifacts undisturbed.

Spiegel Grove

Florida · 19.8–39.6 m

The USS Spiegel Grove, a 510-ft Navy landing ship dock scuttled in 2002 six miles off Key Largo, is one of the largest artificial reefs in the world. She rests upright in 130 ft of water with her superstructure starting around 60-65 ft, serviced by seven permanent mooring buoys inside the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Strong currents and sheer scale make it a genuine advanced dive, while the labyrinthine interior is a renowned technical/wreck-penetration playground; goliath grouper, jacks and bull sharks patrol the structure.

Stillwater Cove (Pebble Beach)

California · 3–15.2 m

A sheltered cove on Carmel Bay below the Pebble Beach golf links, accessed through the private Beach & Tennis Club. Usually in the lee of the prevailing northwest wind, it offers calm granite reefs, shallow canyons and kelp in 10-50 feet, with most reef at 25-30 feet. Access is tightly controlled: a 17-Mile Drive gate fee, diving limited to 10 divers per day on the beach east of the pier, daylight hours only, and beach parking reservable through the harbormaster.
