Site details

A German-built cargo ship (launched 1963, later Adamastos and Zingara) that ran aground on the northern reef bordering Tiran island in 1984 while carrying phosphate from Aqaba, losing most of its bow on impact. The roughly 80m wreck lies parallel to the North Laguna wall within about 12m of water, with a visible winch, six-cylinder engine and propeller, surrounded by lush table corals said to have flourished on the spilled phosphate nutrients.
